Its colour is ruby red tending to purple and it has a fruity and winy perfume, which is also well balanced, persistent and slightly tannic.

we suggest to drink it with “pici al ragù”, a typical recipe of Montepulciano. (a kind of handmade thick spaghetti with meat sauce).

climate

The 4 hectares of vineyards are situated in a slightly hilly area with excellent exposure to the sun. The name Le Bèrne, in fact, derives from a late Etruscan or Latin term (Verna or Verena) meaning “hillock”. Its altitude of 350 metres above sea-level assures a perfect microclimate for wine production.

soil

less fertile soils with more ferrous clay and limestone mix

Vinification: maceration on the lees with intense pumping over in the first stage, followed by a short static quiescent stage. Temperature is controlled up to a maximum of 28° C. Ageing: 10 months in stainless steel barrels, with an extra bottle ageing of 12 months minimum
