La Scolca - (Italy)
In 1917, La Scolca was taken over by Giorgio Soldati. Its name originates from the ancient Piedmontese dialect ‘Sfurca’ meaning ‘watch out’. The hill was an ‘observation point’, dominated by an ancient tower. The property was partially covered by forests and partially cultivated. The Soldati Family planted Cortese grapes into an area historically devoted to red grape cultivation. La Scolca is the oldest company in the area, yet, it has one of the most modern cultivation and winemaking techniques. Giorgio Soldati is the innovative creator of La Scolca’s Gavi (sparkling ) wines. He leads the Company with his daughter Chiara, the fifth generation. La Scolca’s goal is to let people appreciate these Gavi DOCG wines and to satisfy the desire of who wish to drink ‘iconic’ Gavi White and Sparkling Wines with high quality style.
